[Hayneville, Alabama, April 1, 2026] — Cloverleaf Infrastructure (Cloverleaf) today announced a significant community benefits commitment tied to its proposed Project Red Clay data center development in Lowndes County, Alabama, reinforcing the company’s approach to investing in the communities where it develops.
Cloverleaf is pledging up to $10 million dedicated to supporting local needs and priorities in the area, with an initial $1 million up front and an additional $9 million to be distributed as the project advances through development.
“Strong communities are the foundation of successful projects,” said David Berry, CEO of Cloverleaf. “From day one, our goal with Project Red Clay has been to be a committed partner in Lowndes County through transparent engagement, responsible development, and investing in meaningful local initiatives that reflect what matters most to local residents.”
Community benefits will be distributed in phases tied to major project milestones:
- $1 million in initial charitable contributions to support near-term community needs
- $4 million to be disbursed following execution of the project’s contract for electric service and approval by the Alabama Public Service Commission
- $5 million to be distributed over five years following the start of construction
Cloverleaf plans to work with the Central Alabama Community Foundation to direct the funding toward priorities identified in collaboration with local stakeholders and community leaders, such as emergency services, weatherization and utility assistance to reduce household energy bills, Head Start and childcare services, workforce training and apprenticeships, and grants to community-serving organizations.

Project Red Clay represents over a $1 billion taxable investment in Lowndes County, that will generate new tax revenue, create construction and permanent jobs, and support broader economic development in the region. The project will use a closed-loop cooling system, greatly reducing water use, and will pay for any power or transmission upgrades to protect against an increase in electric rates.
Cloverleaf emphasized that this community benefits commitment is part of a broader effort to ensure the project delivers lasting value beyond the facility itself.
